I have recently become intolerant to a lot of foods - kiwi, banana, tomato, soy, and pretty much everything in the list of foods associated with latex allergy.I also sometimes react to latex products - blowing up balloons, an elastic band on my wrist, using a rubber eraser, band aides, some glues - these leave me with wih a sore rash, and red inflamed dry flakey skin.
i do not work in the medical profesion, and do not wear rubber gloves on a regular basis, nor do I come into contact with many latex products.
in the last year or two, certain foods have caused my mouth to blister, and bleeding soetimes occurs - this follows the eating of tomato, kiwi and pineapple.
I am going to be tested for latex allergy in May, as there are few immunologists in the country, and the waiting list is that long! I have asked some homeopaths/herbalists etc, but in the case of a suspected latex allergy, they say that a proper diagnosis is best. They can test properly for most things, but not latex.
Since December I have been getting severe lower abdominal pain on the right side. sleeping was agony. i had the pain for 8 weeks consistently. I was unable to sleep on that side, and if I rolled onto it, I awoke. The pain is a low grumbling, griping pain, occassionally becoming a stabbing pain. no painkillers, including a diphene injection calmed it, and anti- spasm drugs did nothing to relieve the pain.
I have discovered that shortly after eating a lot of different foods - especially fruits, the pain becomes severe. e.g. avocado, anything containing soy etc. and the pain can last two days, if i avoid any fruit. I am also getting nausea if I eat anything containing egg, and diahria if I eat seafood, and severe cramping if I eat specifically anchovies.
after two weeks of eating very little, this calmed down. It eventually disappeared, but re-occurs occassionally. The pain is severe, and I am unable to do anything with it. it is griping, dull, consistent, and very uncomfortable.
My GP thought it might be my appendix, and referred me. The hospital thought it was, but i isn't.And it is not a problem with my overy.
I have had blood, urine and stool tasted. Also, an ultrasound, colonoscopy and oesophoscopy. everything was in order, except my stomach, which is inflamed.
I have looked up latex allergy as extensively as I can, and food allergies. there is little mention of abdominal pain as a main symptom. is this a regular symptom of food allergy? And is this how it typically manifests?
I am very fond of fruit, but currently don't seem to be able to eat any. I seem to be intolerant, or allergic to a lot of foods. Is there are chance that cutting out something from my diet will calm the rest of the allergies down? I don't think I can be allergic to that many things!
I also have chronically blocked sinuses, and artificial sweetner gives me stomach cramping and migraine - after soy and artificial sweetner i generally have to go to bed. it is worse on an empty stomach.
I used to suffer from severe chronic tonsilitus, and had them removed two years ago. I am in my mid twenties, and do not smoke or drink.
Any ideas, or suggestions? thinking latex, and a few other allergies, or my immune system is undergoing a lot of changes.
