Allergic Asthma

Dear Doc,
I have allergic asthma as my physician told me(I usually take Nasonex, but with the cold weather, it hasn't provided any relief). Yesterday I felt worse than usual and I thought it was just one of those "one day flu's" that I sometimes get since I have allergies. But my throat is dry, mucus is constantly draining down the back of my throat from my nose, my nasal passages and my lymph nodes are swollen 24/7. And today when I blew my nose,(I have to blow a little hard cause the mucus is very thick and gets stuck most of the time) the mucus was thick, almost solid with blood in it. What is usually the cause for this? Is it something to be alarmed about?
Thank You

I have allergic asthma and was sick with it for a long time before I sought help.  I didn't know what was wrong with me.  I knew I had allergies and went to a PCP, but the allergy meds didn't work.  I went to a sleep clinic because my spouse thought I had sleep apnea, but they didn't find sleep apnea.  Finally I went to an allergist and I'm feeling much, much better.  I use Xyzal, Nasacort AQ, Symbicort and a rescue medication as needed.

Well, Curiousitykilledthecat1225, I was not sure who would review the questions. I just addressed it to a doctor just in case. But, no my allergic asthma is not any different when it rains. Winter time last year I had a sinus infection and the hospital in town turned me away cause the lack of health insurance or money. So, I remained with the sinus infection for some time and then when I finally got over it, it left me with allergies that have just changed all my body's senses(smell, taste, etc). Does anyone else suffer from severe allergies or allergic asthma? What medicines help to alleviate your symptoms? It's like I'm sick everyday, help!!

I'm not a doc. I'm not sure if a doc actually views the med support community forum.

I'm having very similar problems to you. Just curious, do you notice if your problems are more evident just before or when it rains? Were you tested by blood or skin ***** to environmental allergens?
