Hello,
Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours.
They are of two types:acute and chronic(when hives persist for more than 6 weeks). The most likely triggers for acute urticaria are allergies to pets, horses, latex and foods, such as shellfish and nuts, bee or wasp stings, allergies to medicines,Viral infections, such as glandular fever and herpes, dental and sinus infections, fungal infections, blood transfusions and vaccines.
The cause of chronic urticaria is often more difficult to identify.
I would suggest that you consult an allergist and get the allergy tests like skin tests and blood tests like RAST done to confirm the allergens if they are causing allergy.the main treatment of hives is antihistaminics, application of calamine lotion and steroids and oral steroids in severe cases.
I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
Alright thanks i'll look into it. But I've never had allergies before, its really strange.....
Hi Theresa:
Wow.........5 antihistamines........that alone should be a warning sign.
I have had allergies since I was a teenager and just recently found relief with a natural and powerful antioxidant. It is a powder dissolved in water, and I take it in the morning. It relieves my allergies by about 85%. As you are on so much medication it sounds like you had quite bad allergies. In your case you might want to look at OPC-3 and ORAC which intensifies the antioxidant effect.
If you want to hear more about it please let me know.
Thanks,
Marc
