I will try to be brief but hope that you can help:-
I have experienced following:- Red throat for a few months, no pain but there is swelling on one side of the throat. Sinus tachycardia (began in April when I noticed the redness in my throat), PACs/palpitations (more recently - a week or two), at the time it all started I had a cold but had noticed one side of my throat was red for a while but dismissed it because it didn't hurt.
At same time I had itching skin, itchy spots, blood spots under skin, itching eyes, itching on outside of my nose, soreness inside my nose etc... When I had the cold I had pressure in my ear on one side, heavy sinuses, as the cold went I had a cough which lasted ages, tickly and productive.
I had a streaming nose after the cold and mucous was clear, also the mucous I brought up from my throat was clear.
Had a throat swab taken but the result was negative for infection, I was sounded by my GP who said my chest was clear. I also have had a tickly productive cough since the start of April when I had the first cold.
My tonsils itch, my tongue can itch. I have lost over a stone in weight and look quite ill and pale now because I couldn't eat for my mouth burning and itching after eating food, I developed regular sore patches in my mouth. I now get palps and PAC's when I eat and a racing heart just after I eat. I get reflux too and lots of burping since the tachycardia started.
My tongue was heavily coated with yellow fur when it started, now it is kinda white fur, but the sides have whiteness too, but not thick patches like thrush. The GP suspected thrush and gave me Nystatin which did not clear it. I also regularly rinsed my mouth out twice daily with listerine.
Had a huge number of blood tests including Full Blood Count, Blood Cultures, Chest X Ray, ECG's, Serum levels, Urea and Electrolytes, ESR, EFGR, Thyroid function - basically I was told I had the "Full works" blood test wise.
They blamed anxiety. However, some of the symptoms began before anxiety, the tachy started when I had the heavy sinus cold. I have had the tachy since April and have had heart related blood tests, chest x ray again, ecgs and have been referred to a cardiologist but they are still telling me it's anxiety.
I have had shortness of breath and a feeling of obstruction in my throat, but it is intermittent. I can struggle to breathe in sometimes because it feels like my throat swells up and my uvula is touching my tongue at the back when this happens. I have a swollen gland under my ear lobe on the side where the throat swelling is but again, it doesn't hurt, it's just hard. I have asked the GP about it and he said it was a sentinel gland. But it is up all the time. It swelled just after mumps two years ago and has never come down. You can only tell its there if you touch it, it is not obvious.
However, I had similar (not all the same) symptoms 2 years ago after contracting mumps, afterwards I had muscle and joint pains which I also have now, exhaustion on climbing the stairs as I do now, and the blood spots happened then too, plus skin itching (but not as much as this time), sinuses were heavy and I lost my balance a lot also.
My GP 2 years ago suggested Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Post Viral Syndrome, as I had bloods done then and they were fine.
I was pregnant last year and felt great! Had my baby in Dec, then had a tooth infection in Feb followed by vaginal strep C, followed by a heavy cold giving me a chesty cough. It was while I had the vaginal strep I was put on antibiotics and the itching started roundabout then. The red throat appeared in April with dilated blood vessels appearing in my mouth.
I have seen numerous GP's and they can't figure it out. But I suspect that all of these symtptoms have one thing in common:-
Cats!
It started when we moved into a house where the landlady had a cat, she moved out, and my husband's father gave us a long haired cat, my symptoms began then, when I was pregnant we gave the cat back to his father because of risks with litter trays and unborn baby, I felt great. In April however hubby's dad brought the cat back saying he didn't want her anymore. I have progressively felt ill since.
My question is:- Can all of this be an allergic reaction, i.e. an airborne allergy? Or is it a systemic fungal thing? Would my blood levels have shown abnormalities if there was fungal systemic infection?
I have had a full blood screening, I spoke to the doctor in A & E yesterday as I was taken in with fast heart rate, high blood pressure and breathlessness. She told me that my heart was healthy and that my circulation was fine.
