Allergy/Wasp Bite

Is a wasp bite on a finger dangerous when swelling goes beyond the knuckles and continues to itch severely? Pink in color. No shortness of breath. Took Benadryl 25 and Extra Strength Tylenol. Lanocaine helps a bit, Guess I will survive one poor night of sleep.

Thank you so much for your post, Had two nights of an itching hand.  I then had dry skin and appied Eucerin Cream.  All better now. I will go to an allergist soon for upper respiratory concerns and will ask about the bite reaction. this is a great site and has excellent postings.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Antihistamines block the histamine receptors and will help with allergic symptoms. But I would suggest you obtain a referral to an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing.  That is the only way to reliably know what is causing your allergic reaction.  Some allergies can be life-threatening as they can precipitate anaphylactic shock in which the swelling can be so severe that it impairs the ability to breathe.  Therefore, I would suggest you see someone as soon as possible.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
