Allergy to a new bra has anyone else suffered the same

I suffer from anaphalaxis. One Sunday I put on a brand new bra and within a few hours I was suffering dreadful discomfort. After removing the bra my husband told me that my skin looked like it had been burnt. On inapecting the bra there appeared to be something like latex or sylicone in the material at the bottom of the bra. My question is if I had continued to wear it would it have turned to an anaphalactic reaction and has anyone else suffered the same.

Hi i was just wondering how you went finding out what you were allergic to in the bra?
I have a teenage daughter and it has come time to do the bra buying thing.  I bought her one bra from Kmart which was ok but they no longer carry it, so went to a bra shop and bought her some new ones.  We noticed a few weeks back she isn't wearing them I had bought her them just b4 christmas 2008. When asked why she wasn't wearing them she answered 'they hurt'. Thinking she was just being a normal teenage girl who doesn't like wearing her bra I told her to stop being silly and go put them on.  I found her 3 minutes later lying on her bed itching like crazy saying see they hurt.  She had red welts where all here bra straps touched her skin, so she was wearing a big bra welt.  I administered anti-hystamine immediately, and apologized a thousane times.  Now every bra shop we go to we try the bra's on her arms and with in a few seconds welts and hives go thru her arm up her face and we are yet to find her any bra's to wear.

Hi, I'm in Cambridge (UK) and I have recently bought 3 new bras from Triumph.  I initially developed a red mark under my arm which made me think I was allergic to my deodorant, changed deodorant but it continued to develop from my underarm towards my shoulder in line with the edge of the bra.  I also developed a really, really itchy rash on the chest band of the bra at the front.  A wheal developed and it was very sore and hot.  Having read all about Victoria Secret bras I'm wondering if it's the same problem with these Triumph ones.  I've taken some photos of my rash and thinking about writing to Triumph.  I initially took some anti-hystamine tablets and then bought some Benadryl cream which I found very soothing.  I haven't worn the bras for a few days and the itching has stopped and the redness is gradually fading.  I have washed the bras a few times now and I'm hoping that maybe whatever it is will go but I'm concerned about testing out my theory!!

This has also happened to me withing the last several weeks with one bra in particular that I bought from Goddess.  There is a large almost 9 inches around rash on my back that appears to be a chemical burn with ragged edges and it appears that the skin bubbles and then gets very hard and then peels.  Itches like a sonnofa.

I have had this happen twice in the same place and with the same bra so I discontinued wearing it.  I am wondering if it isn't manufactured by the same company that does work for Victoria's secret.

Hi,

No, you would not have developed anaphylaxis due to your reaction to the bra.
Immune reactions are mediated by different pathways and the one mediating contact and allergic dermatitis is different from the one causing anaphylaxis.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
