For many people that smell is most likely Candida overgrowth. I’ve had the ammonia smell before in my nose and have had chronic sinus issues with many surgeries over the years. When I get Candida overgrowth it comes on very gradually so it’s hard to identify until months have passed and I feel like total crap. It starts to feel like chronic fatigue with a sinus infection. Antibiotics just make it worse and give the yeast more real-estate. What helps is the Candida diet (which sucks at first but helped relieve my sinus symptoms in a few days) and sinus rinses like NielMed (only use distilled water) are great. Besides the baking Soda salt mix in the sinus rinse, people can add 1/2 tsp Xylitol. It keeps things from sticking and keeps down bacteria as well. I’ve also heard of fresh garlic being used with success. People eat it as well as add some drops to their nasal rinse. Also, steaming and inhaling into the sinuses Peppermint oil, which kills Candida, will speed things up.
Hello,
Ammoniacal smell that you are having in your nose can be due to sweating. Although perspiration is basically odorless, it can take on an unpleasant smell when it comes into contact with bacteria on your skin. Most often, it's the bacterial breakdown of apocrine sweat that causes a strong odor.
Ammonia smell of the sweat could indicate liver or kidney disease.
Take regular baths and wear loose cotton clothes.Pls avoid taking heavy fatty meal and eat nutritious, healthy food.If the ammonical smell still persists then pls get yourself evaluated for liver or kidney disorders.
Take care and pls do keep us posted on how you are doing.
