Anaphylaxis

When I was younger the docotor said I was allergic to soap but then it was diagnosed as aqugenic urticaria. However, 2 years ago I suffered from a near fatal anaphylactic shock. Is this just a carry forward to my diagnosis? Have many other sufferers had this happen to them?

As I posted on another place in this web site: After 6 years and 10 doctors I finally figured out the cause of my random swelling, small places on a, foot, hand, lip, arm, throat, tongue like most others..
All caused by CORN. Anything with corn, corn syrup, corn breading (on fish or chicken) Problem is, it takes 24 to 72 hours from eating corn to swelling symptom, (usually 48-56 hours). I must read the ingredients and eat a corn free diet, most everything has corn in it. It all started 6 years ago after a 2 week visit in China. Maybe China has nothing to do with it. I am 56 great health, no meds, Definitely CORN and maybe something else but at least I have some what of a handle and greatly reduced episodes of swelling. Allegra helps but it is hard on my prostate, (high PSA when taking it) so I have found If I take 1/3 of a pill, it will take away the swelling so long as I haven't taken any in the last few days. Taking Allegra every day does NOT stop the swelling. We have to figure this out, it is getting worse. Started out only 1 place at a time, now it can be 4 or 5 separate places swelling. Again, it takes 2 1/2 days for the swelling to occur after I eat something with corn in it. Even Ibuprofen and many vitamins have corn in it. Zyrtec, Benadryl, does not help. Has anyone been able to verify Corn as the culprit?

I've never heard of anyone going into anaphylactic shock from aqugenic  urticaria before...but that's not to say that it couldn't happen.

I'm assuming they ran allergy tests at the time of diagnosis? Did they mention anything else that you may have had a sensitivity to ?
As we age we can suddenly develop new allergies...things ( such as shrimp, peanuts ) that we have eaten a million times before, suddenly cause allergic reactions.
