Cough after sex and sometimes exercise

I get a cough after sex and also sometimes during exercise. I have been checked for heart problems and have none. I am a healthy 55 year old. I have also been tested for allergic reactions to most common molds and do not have any. Can you help?

I am not aware of any over the counter or natural remedies at the this moment but will look into it. the problem is that ithis is a mild inflammatory condition of the lungs (asthma), so it needs to be treated accordingly. The problem you have is also know as "Exercise induced Asthma" but we like to record it as "Exercise induced Bronchospasm" because many patients do not want the word asthma in their charts. Feel free to Google both of them and look for treatments that will work for you. Be thankful that this is very easy to treat and and has quick results!

I hope this helps!

This is actually quite common in a number of patients that have come through our office. The most common cause is called "Exercise induced Bronchospasm".  This is not to be confused with regular asthma and is easy to treat. Normal treatment is two inhalations of Albuterol (90mcg's each spray)
at least 30 minutes before running or sex (if possible). The Albuterol will give you around 6 hours of relief before it wears off. Depending on what country you live in, you will probably require a prescription. Most that suffer from this have very mild asthma and/or allergies that don't require medical intervention in most cases.

Best of luck
