Dairy allergy - even to pills - need pain relief I can tollerate

Despite being told that adults do not become allergic to dairy I AM! This started about six months ago, extreme pain, swelling, itching, burning sensations all round the groin regions, along with itching over back, scalp and other areas on the body.   Eventually by elimination I found that it was being caused by dairy and wheat.  Trouble is it is also caused by the medications I am supposed to be on from my doctor.  So far they have found a source of thyroxine in capsule form which I can take, but no antihistamine or pain medication that does not contain dairy in some form.

Does anyone know of any forms of antihistamine or pain relief that comes in capsule (or other) form which does not contain any trace of dairy?

I am trying very hard to control the allergy by dietary means, but am shocked and amaised at how many products do contain some form of dairy - even an Oxo cube for heavens sake!!! I now do not seem able to tollerate even the smallest amount.  I have other problems for which I need some form of pain relief (Fybromyalgia being one).  My life is constant pain from one source or another at the moment.   Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

you can also read up about the vast symptoms of Candida on the internet. There is a test you can do at home to see if yeast is rampant in your system - it's called 'the water trick'...search it online...I have the link at work...basically you spit into a glass of water first thing in the morning - in 1/2 hr - 45mins - if there are strings hanging from your spit into the water or your spit has separated and fallen to the bottom...well you get my drift...you have active candida...((I will try to remember to post the link if you cannot find it online))

Until you are able to get the BioMeridan testing done, I would consider purchasing a homeopathic remedy for Dairy allergies. I know in the USA, you can find a bottle for very cheap. I also know someone who used to have bumps on his skin when he ate or drank any dairy products... the homeopathic remedy worked for him!

Good luck!

Many thanks for your comments.  I have heard of the BioMeridian thing before, but only from an article I read some where some time ago.  I do not know if there is anywhere over here, I am in the UK.  I will do a check on it.

Re your comment about Candida, no I have not been tested for that, yet.  To be honest, although we have the National Health System over here, doctors are afraid to send patients anywhere for anything these days.  I have had to literally fight with my doctor every step of the way, to get anything at all.  At one point I made a double appointment to see him, which is supposed to last about 12-15 minutes.  I came out of his surgery nearly an hour and a half later!!  Not that he was any help, I still had to ask to be referred to a pain clinic - but boy did I tell him what I thought of him.  Made me feel a lot better, but did not do my health care one jot of difference.

Today I was at the hospital for a small but invasive procedure, done under local anasthetic.  They had to use a numbing gel, and it is normal for patients to be given antibiotics afterwards as a precaution, but I could not take them as they contained a milk ingredient.  No alternative is available apparently.

It is rather worrying for the future, if there is no alternative available that I can tolerate.  I just hope that I do not get ill with anything that needs serious medication.

I will remember the BioMeridian, though, and Candida, for possible help.  Many thanks.   I hope you find either a cure or at least a form of medication for your problems.

I have been going thru a similar problem. Sudden onset of various allergies that have left me useless!! I did all the fancy allergy testing that could be done - and ONE person got me going so far - on the right track!! she is a person that does "BioMeridian" testing. Over here in Colorado - she charged me $85 for an hour and could test ACTUAL medicines against me to denote an allergy!! I'm now a firm believer in BioMeridian Testing!! I would have thought it "voodoo" magic until she matched my allergists results - to the T!!!!!!!!

Thanks Carol for your comments, but unfortunately I have already been down both these channels.  It was doctors (note the plural) who have kept telling me that I cannot be reacting to dairy.  Despite the fact that I have proved that if I take even the smallest tabelt with a dairy ingredient I am in agony within an hour.  I have now had to force (and I do mean me forcing the doctor) to refer me to a pain clinic in the faint hope that they know of some way of inducing pain relief without the use of dairy ingredients.   I have also spoken to several pharmasists, both at shop level and in two hospitals, and it was one of these who suggested the pain clinic as a possibility.  She said there could be some form, for example patches.   If there is such a thing, why on WHY has my doctor left me to suffer such agony for over six months???   I am still suffering and waiting for the referral to procude an appointment, heaven knows how long that is going to take.

All I do know is that if a vet left an animal in such pain they would be prosecuted for it.  Why are doctors allowed to get away with it?

The best person to ask is your local registered pharmacist.  Usually they offer free consultations and they are up on the latest meds for everything.  I suggest you try that route.  If that doesn't work, then you probably should see your doctor.
