Deviated Septum

I do believe I was born with it. Will an operation help my breathing? Will it do something for my post nasal drip? Has anyone truly seen an improvement after surgery?

Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. So, please discuss with your doctor and clear your doubts before you consent for surgery. Regards.

Thank you so much for replying to my question. I had a cousin who had  the surgery and he did say it improved his breathing immensely. I know I have rhinitis. But, I do believe I have a combination of other things that are preventing me from breathing properly. Excess mucus, phlegm...coughing..Thanks again, would be awesome to see if the surgery would help a bit.
