Dry Itchy Throat Coughing

I have always been like this, when I stay overseas, well most of iot is either onboard a cruise ship and in Hongkong, I feel just fine but few weeks after I got home to Manila, I develop a dry itchy throat coughing and it embarasses me in my new office. My office mates, though they do no say anything I know suspects that I maybe seriously sick.

I have tried taking antihistamines for a week but it does not improve. I have taken amoxycilin, clarythromycin, erythromycin and even klarycid, which costs me Php 185 a piece but with very little effect! I have also taken it with conjuction with these medicines-Mucosform and just this week, Mucosolvan.

I hope you can give me a proffesional advise. In the meantime, I just take strepsils to sooth my itchy throat.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
What is important is you must find out what is causing this allergy. Common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, synthetic fiber, cosmetics or drugs. You must get an allergy test done, either a skin test or RAST, to know what you are allergic to. Many fruits, wheat, sea food, coloring agents, preservatives in food etc cause food allergy and throat sensitivity too. There are various tests designed to test for food allergy. You need to take those tests too. It could also be due to acid reflux disease and acidity.
Hope these tips help. Do discuss these possibilities with your doctor. You should consult an allergy specialist for this. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hii Jake67
i agree with you that sometimes it becomes too much embarrassing when you have a problem like this.I don't think that antibiotics will help you. So no need to waste your money on them. Can you tell me which all anti-histaminic you have taken? Either you are getting inadequate does of it or you are suffering from a persistent allergic stimulus, which has to be removed.
do tell m e at the earliest about the list of antihistaminic with dosage.
feel free to ask questions,
regards
abhijeet
