Hello, and thank you for your reply. I have received IV morphine on many occasions without incident, but have never received IV Benadryl. Thankfully my throat didn't actually close, though having that feeling is one I'll never forget.
I went to the ER with a severe headache, which involved near fainting and confusion. I can see being given Morphine, but what reason would I be given an IV mix of Morphine and Benadryl?
Thank you.
Hello and hope you are doing well.
It could have been an allergic reaction to morphine or the preservatives used. I would suggest you obtain a referral to an allergist or an ENT who does allergy testing. That is the only way to reliably know what is causing your allergic reaction. Some allergies can be life-threatening as they can precipitate anaphylactic shock in which the swelling can be so severe that it impairs the ability to breathe. Therefore, I would suggest you see someone as soon as possible.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
