Lip Problem

I'm 19 this year. Just a days ago, i began experiencing discomfort on the middle area of the upper lip, to be exact its the pointy part. It used to be soft, but now it somehow feels as if it has thickened and hardened. Since then the middle part has been less sensitive than the other areas. Never experienced this before and neither do i have any health problems. I've experienced dry lips before but none were like this, particularly at the middle area of the upper lips. Is it just another case of dry lips or it might be some kind of illness that has developed in my body? I have been taking lots of water lately but it doesn't seem to go away.I have not consulted a doctor for this but please let me know what you think it might be. Thanks.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The patch could be due to allergen. The other causes could be due to a fungal infection, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and eczema. Usually there is itching and some amount of inflammation with these conditions. You will need to consult your primary care physician for further evaluation.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Have you used any teeth whitening products lately?  This is apparently a common thing related to using those products.

Sometimes a pimple that hasn't come to a head can cause this, as well as a cold sore.

Do you use straws a lot?
