Random allergy fits

I keep getting these random but annoying watery red eyes and sneezing attacks. I went through my whole life never being allergic to anything except very strong perfumes in lotions, and I have lived with cats, dogs, hampsters...ect my whole life. I had an allergy test last year that came out clean (apparently I am not allergic to anything). But when I get these allergy attacks my nose runs like a faucet and I cant stop sneezing. It happens at work, and at home. I have not noticed any patterns or similarities in when it happens (And I've checked to see if it was from perfumes, which it is not). What could be causing this???

Allergies can develope at any stage of life.

What kind of allergy testing was done on you?  Blood allergy testing is not as accurate with lots of false negatives compared to skin testing.

I hope you get some answers.

You can have what is called 'non-allergic rhinitis' which basically means you are not allergic to anything but you can have the symptoms of allergies.  Basically you need to try to avoid strong fragrances, smoke and anything else that aggravates these symptoms.  You may want to see your physician.  They can prescribe a nasal spray for these symptoms.  Hope this helps and good luck.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, it typically suggests allergic rhinitis with allergic conjunctivitis which is exaggerated or precipitated during cold season or timing. This condition is sometimes associated with asthma. This is not random but some precipitating factor is present which you are unaware of.

The triggering factors like dust, fog, pollens etc. can cause the precipitation of these symptoms. Hence, you need to maintain a diary of tings you are and you are not allergic to. A vigorous search for allergen is required.

A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma is necessary and it directs further steps for management.

Once, the allergen is known, you need to prevent further exposure to it.

Treatment of the attack includes anti histaminic and glucocorticoids against prescription.

I suggest you to consult allergy specialist. Take care and regards.
