SORE THROAT & EAR-ACHE

So, I think I am fighting a sinus infection. Or so the doctor said. I'm not sure what it is. I have a slightly red, irritated throat (no pain, however), dry coughing, swollen lymph nodes (not painful either), inflamed nostrils (cannot blow out anything), and very mild ear aches. This has been going on for the past 6 or 7 days. What is it? Strep? I'm taking antibiotics, but my current one is causing me nausea. Please, help!

Hi,
Yes, it is common to have ear aches and nasal congestion with sinusitis. Sinusitis is usually bacterial infection and treatment is mainly with antibiotics, decongestants, nasal sprays, humidifiers, expectorants etc. Nausea is a common side effect to use of antibiotics, but subsides with further use.  Culture of discharge can determine the organism causing this infection and assistance in choice of antibiotics for this. Best.
