Side effects from Meds. or allergic reaction

I recently started taking Mirapex ER for possible PD and my tongue is numb and feels swollen. However, it does not appear swollen.  I have had some numbness in my tongue in the past although it did not last for several days.  My symptoms become more apparent about an hour after taking medication.  I looked at the side effects and this is not one of them.  Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to this medication?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Swelling of the tongue, throat or mouth could indicate an allergic reaction. More so if repeated episodes have occurred with ingestion of the same medication. The other allergic manifestations include rash, hives, itching and wheezing. Discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the medication.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

It is possible it's a side effect, but I wonder if it can also be the PD itself.  You could ask the pharmacist, but they don't always know less common side effects.  I remember one pharmacist not knowing some BP pills can cause muscle spasms.  Doh!
