Very bad shortness of breathe, feel's what I believe copd might feel like.

Hey there, Ok I have been very short of breath these last few days and it has gotten worse. It feels almost like what I could imagine what copd might feel like. When I was trying to sleep it felt like I would completely lose breath and my leg and body would jolt me awake. It is an awful feeling. I'm seriously scared to sleep and scared I might possibly die in my sleep. Could this just be a bout of allergies? I am sneezing and have noticed some bright neon green mucus after I sneeze too with some clogged up nostrils so I really don't know. Should I get in and get this checked out? Any ideas or advice would be awesome. Thank you in advance.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The nasal block could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could also be due to a deviated nasal septum. Sinus infections can cause stuffiness of the nose with nasal blockage, which can make breathing through the nose difficult. It can also cause post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. But shortness of breath or heavier breathing in the chest could be due to lower respiratory infections like pneumonia and bronchitis. So, please seek medical attention at the earliest.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
