Victoria's Secret Allergy

This morning I heard report on Good Morning America about Victoria's Secret bras causing some people allergies.  Since May, I have been breaking out atleast once a month in hives all over my body and swelling on my face without any known cause.    I have already gone to the doctor twice.  They can't figure it out and they just prescribe steroids which take about 2 weeks to work.  I have even experienced trouble breathing from time to time.  I'll start to feel something like food stuck in my throat, but I know by now that my insides are getting swollen also.  I have been wearing these bras and underwear for over ten years.  Some people are writing that they are getting hives on their breasts, but has anyone experienced anything similar to what is happening to me?

i've had the same problems too.  i've never owned a vs bra before.  my first purchase i bought 2 lined demi bras and that was 5 years ago.  since then i've purchased 8 more bras and have been having rashes, hives, uncontrollable itching.  it got so bad that i broke skin causing my skin to bleed.  i've been a mess.  used multiple otc solutions such as gold bond after showering and dressing, benadryl, sarna creams, hydrocortizones, aveeno.  thought i was having a reaction to my laundry detergent and changed to all fragrance free EVERYTHING and the rash still breaking out.  i was going out of my mind.  then i thought maybe i'm starting with a food allergy.  changed my diet and tried to pin what was going on.  in the mean time the rash had progressed to all over my body - started using lotrimin to cure jock itch - i didnt know what fungus, yeast, hives, stress, excema problem i was experiencing - it was a nightmare!  i then had to wear only my sports bras for extra support and wouldn't you know it - POOF the pain and itching had slowly gone away.  ive been rash and itch free for 5 weeks now!  what a coincidence!  has anyone gotten in touch with the vs hotline for advice?  let me know.  i've been offered a $100 gift card to purchase some "cotten" vs bras.  i politely declined.
i would never wish that skin rash on anyone!

I also have had a similiar reaction. After buying a bra from Victoria's Secret I started experiencing itching on my breasts and not long after I had terrbile hives all over my breasts. It didn't take long for it to stretch across my body, anywhere I scratched. The doctor thinks it was just a case of eczema, but now that I have heard about these reports from the bras I wonder if it started with a reaction from the bra that spread by my itching?

Hi gaby! I too just started reading about this. I've been wearing VS IPEX, and BBV for a few years now. Last September '07 I started breaking out in hives ALL over my body and have not been able to figure out what is causing it either. I'm glad to see your post b/c I was about to shrug this off as not what is causing it since all the other women say its only on their breats and back. I guess we're gonna have to try not wearing them and see what happens? I also get the swelling on my face, hands, feet, and what feels like my insides. None of my doctors know what is going on either.
