Yeast Allergy

I was diagnosed with a yeast allergy about 2 years ago. I do not get yeast infections, but whenever I eat something with a high amount of yeast, my throat itches and swells, and I get a horrible sinus headache that covers my whole face. I have been having recurrent UTI's recently and want to try drinking cranberry juice. Do cranberries have yeast, or would they be okay?

I had seen a nutritionist for a while, but he didn't know very much about yeast allergies. I have several lists of food that show what have yeast and what doesn't, but it is hard to find a list for everything :)  Thanks so much for your help!

Hi, welcome to the forum, the patients who are allergic to yeasts should stay away from the yeast containing foods. You can get the list of the yeast containing foods from the net. Examples of yeast containing foods are Bakery products like Cookies, cake items, pastries and sweet rolls, pretzels, rolls and breads. Beer and Alcoholic Beverages, Vinegar or
natural root beer, soy sauce, olives, sauerkraut and apple cider.

Cranberries doesn't contain yeasts. Hence, it can be safely taken. I suggest you to consult dietitian for further information.Take care and regards.
