allergy?

I have eaten shrimp and lobster for years with no problem. The other day I sampled a lobster spread at Sam's Club.  Later that night I vomited and then red spoltches were all over my face. No swelling or itching with them. Why now? I'm 68 and never had this happen before!

Hello bobbietwin,

Just finished reading your post. You say you'be eaten shrimp and lobster
for years with no problems. You also mentioned you sampled a lobster
spread. A lobster spread is different than plain broiled lobster because
there are different ingredients in a spread. Based on what you said,
if you got red blotches all over your voice, that would suggest to me that
there was something in the spread you were allergic to other than the
lobster. You also threw up the lobster spread, thereby showing your body
didn't want this in your system. You might consider going to your family
doctor and telling him or her what happened to you. That you ate a lobster
spread. That you vomited, got red splotches on your face. Your family doctor
might have some ideas as to what happened and perhaps make a referral
to an allergist. Good luck to you. I'm guessing there was an ingredient in
the spread other than the lobster which you may have been allergic too.
Just a guess.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? What other symptoms were present? It is possible that it is not the lobster itself that you reacted with  but the spices or other ingredients in the food. Although there has been cases of acquired allergies also that may be responsible and needs to be ruled out by your doctor. These arise from altered body ecology due to usage of medications, improper diet, environment and even unhealthy lifestyle from recent years. Further evaluation like allergy tests may also need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
