How are you? Can you elaborate more on the swelling at the base of your throat?
Side effects of prednisone may include: problems with your vision; swelling, rapid weight gain;  feeling short of breath; severe depression,  seizure ; bloody or tarry stools, pancreatitis; confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling or high blood pressure.  You can read more about this through this link: http://www.drugs.com/prednisone.html

If this persists, you can always discuss this with your doctor for an alternative drug that works for you.

I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.

Hi,
A serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
If what you are experiencing is a feeling of tightening inthe throat you may be allergic to the drug. Please report this to your pyysician immediately.
The drug Prednisone is a corticosteroid hormone (glucocorticoid). It decreases your immune system's response to various diseases to reduce symptoms such as swelling and allergic-type reactions. It is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood disorders, breathing problems, certain cancers, eye problems, immune system diseases, and skin diseases.
But any drug which is a foreign substance as far as the body is concerned has the potential to elicit an allergoc response.
