food allergies and anxiety

I have a food allergy but not sure what it is. Since I had my son two years ago, I occasionally get very restless at night and cant fall asleep even when i'm sleepy. I have also tried taking a nap during the day, but its still hard. I also developed a bad ezcema especially on my arms, scalp, under my breast and also behind my ears. Can someone please explain whether there is any connection why I cant be calm while alsleep. I think about sleep everytime and now i'm stressed about sleep!!!

Have you isolated the food groups for at least two weeks?  I have a wheat issue, and when I went on the south beach diet, all the anxiety and sleeplessness was gone.  Maybe you do have some kind of food issue.  My doctors never figured that out after 10 years.  Good luck!

Hello,

The more stressed you get about sleep, the more difficult it is sleep. Inability to sleep could be problems with initiating sleep or maintaining sleep is called insomnia. It’s unlikely to be due to food allergy. Problems with breathing (Obstructive sleep apnea), certain medications, restless leg movements and sleep walking/talking could contribute to insomnia.

You should stop becoming anxious and try to relax. Try to have a warm bath before sleeping. Have a glass of milk or read a book before trying to sleep. Don’t watch TV or do exercise before sleeping. Condition yourself that you can relax and that you can sleep well.

Follow good sleep hygiene measures like going to bed at the same time, waking up at the same time, avoidance of alcohol, smoking and caffeinated beverages. Please consult your primary care physician if problem persists.

Take Care and Hope this helps!
