help me!!

Hi, for the past eight years i have had no sense of smell due to having rhinitis.. I have had three operations to remove polyps and now i think they are returning.. Anyway, on tuesday i completely lost my voice, i can only manage a whisper. i went to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics, on thursday it was still the same, still no voice what so ever, also for the past week i have had a horrible taste and smell, one i can't explain.. this i can't understand because as i said for eight years i have no sense of smell due to rhinitis.. anybody have any ideas whats could be going on.. is this all conected to my rhinitis. the smell taste and the loss of voice????

I have no sense of smell, its frustrating and I cant even smell my expensive perfume or the lovely food I cooked....I underwent surgery in 1993 and still nothing. I have tried different meds in the past years but kinda gave up along the way. It becomes very embarrassing especially when people ask me to smell something or something smells bad or nice but I cant seem to smell a thing. I plan to get pregnant soon & would be lovely to smell my baby even with poo!|lol

What can I DO!! *FRUSTRATED*

Hi,

Considering your past medical and surgical history it would be advisable for you to consult an ENT specialist at the earliest and get a proper clinical examination done.

Nothing can be said with surety till then, The symptoms you describe could possibly be related too - but let your specialist confirm that.

It would be best to discuss your past history in detail with the doctor and update him/her about the current symptoms.

Let us know about what the doctor advises and post us about how you are doing.

Regards.

i'm kind of going through a similar situation.  i lost my sense of smell and taste for the last week and a half due to sinus problems - horrible nasal congestion.  and yes, rhinitis is absolutely related to loss of smell and taste!  its all connected.  i can't imagine not having this for 8 years, though!  maybe there's another underlining issue that's causing the problem.  maybe you should check with an ENT or an allergy specialist?  i wish you the best.
