itchy rash on forearms, along the sides of back, chest

I have a chronic, extremely itchy rash. at first I could not see any type of bumps or actual visual proof of a skin rash, just lots of itching. about a week later I started noticing little bumps, almost like goose bumps, in the areas that were itching, and now they have turned into redish splotchy areas. I have had this before about 5 months ago and it lasted for about a month, then it gradually went away. I changed my clothing detergent, soap, have not used any kind of skin creams, and am not on any medication. I have asked many friends, doctors and anyone who will listen, "what is this?"
i am severly itchy. and on occasion have scratched so much, that I tore the skin. I also have itchy scalp, but no dandruff. recently while scratching my head i noticed little scabs on my scalp from scratching. A freind told me recently that he thought it may be a nerve rash. can anyone help me?

Hi,

It could be eczema, sweat dermatitis, allergic reactions or due to some insect bite.

You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .

Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).

You should also start some diet plan and exercise training to help you lose weight.

Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema. Keeping the affected area moistened can promote skin healing and relief of symptoms.

Sounds like an allergy rash, there are a few out there this time of year, take antihistimines, try cortisone cream ,sometimes they work.Stay out of the Sun as it can make it worse, check what you wre eating prior to the Rash appearing, it isnt easy to figure out what causes these Hives, look it up on the search engine under Urticaria, there are several kinds.
