sore under the nose

My 3 and half year old son has sore nose (inside part), he hardly can sleep at night. His behaviour has worsen and has develop dark circle around his eye. Please help.

Thank you Dr. The appointments I am getting is after 3 months and my son behavior is getting worse. Do you anyone in perth from whom I can get the appointment asap?

A sore nose in a three and half year old boy can be due to chronic running nose, sinusitis, picking at is nose, a foreign body in the nose or due to some injury. If your child is unable to sleep at night then he probably has a stuffy nose and chronic cold. This can be viral, bacterial or allergic in nature. Generally bacterial causes result in fever, so this is more or less ruled out. I suggest you give him steam inhalation before bed time and take him to his pediatrician for evaluation. During the day you can give warm beverages such as herbal tea and clear soups. Keep the house and his bedding dust free. Once the child is able to sleep at night, his behavior will improve. Take care!
