Now don't misunderstand me everyones condition is different I have 2 factors for having clots
and I have a filter in me I was taking a host of different supplements and still had clots.
As per the doctors I can still have clots while on the warfarin
as per caregiver222 you have to be very very careful I was on aspirin and had 4 blood clots
they put me on warfarin and aspirin and then they said after about 6 months of me complaining that aspirin doesn't work and they agreed and eliminated the aspirin.
when they did the study about aspirin it was floored because they used Bufferin and that
contains magnesium and magnesium thins the blood
The answer is that it can be potentially dangerous.
You need to ask your physician if you can use an alternative to coumadin. Under existing AMA guildelines they cannot suggest this to you, as coumadin represents the "standard of care".
There are alternative protocols, including one aspirin (325 mg) a day divided into two doses plus omega-3 fish oil.
Mortality rates for those on alternative protocols are very favorable.
Do a search on MEDLINE for other protocols.
With the exception of those with a heart-valve replacement, alternative to coumadin should be considered.
I'm on Warfarin (coumadin) and take fish oil! fish oil will thin your blood slightly depending
on how much you take!! Before taking the oil please talk to your doctor first.
