Methylcobalamin B12

My doctor has prescribed this by injection for my fatigue. Has any one used this and what were your results? It is ordered to be administered SQ. I have heard of B12 being given IM but not SQ. The orders are for 1cc SQ once a week. Hoping someone familiar with this injectable vitamin could share their information and experience.

the only difference between im and sq is that sq is just under the skin and im is into the muscle.  might not sound like a big difference but it is. b12 is muscle and fat soluable.

b12 itself is not enough though.  b12 cannot be effecient without other b vitamins and other minerals.

This is another topic you need to talk to your doc about.

Ok, you might not want to hear this...  although I believe strongly in supplements, that is what they are...  just Supplements.

Supplements are not meant to replace our food choices, only to enhance. Supplements are not going to give you everything you need.  You need to change your diet and add in supplements, not the other way around.

Getting Vit B's is not difficult.  It is in almost every vegetable and most fruits.  Although some more than others.

Talk to your Dr and ask to see a nutritionist if you have to. But the best bet is diet change and then add in supplements.

A product I have used off and on thru the years off and on is Green Vibrance. I take a scoop with some juice or water. It does have some chlorophyll and iodine sources in it. Best to check out the ingredients online or at a store prior to buying it.
Another product recently recommended by naturopath to me is Liquid Life. Check it out too, has lots of amino acids, vitamins, ect in it. I like it to use in place of a multivitamin.
Good luck.

Oh, and really, nothing beats juicing organic veggies.  It preserves the nutrients and freshness best, but it is time consuming and you need a very good juicer that doesn't produce a lot of heat as it works -- most juicers get so hot you might as well cook the food.  But if you have the time and motivation, it's just a great thing to do.

For hypothyroid, you might want to look into kelp and bladderwrack, which are ocean algae.  They're high in iodine, as well as all minerals, and are a traditional treatment for hypothyroid, though not for hyper.  Now, if you're on synthroid or something you would need professional advice before doing any iodine therapy.

Thanks guys, the info is very helpful. So a good super green supplement would be good and contain the chlorophyll? Have you heard of Juice Plus, it comes in caplet form? Like you said Paxiled ,probably to equivalent to juicing.

Nature's Sunshine, while actually considered fairly good, is a multi-level direct marketing company.  You can get liquid chlorophyll for much cheaper in any health food store, usually by World Organics, but there are many suppliers.  However, it isn't the equivalent of juicing vegetables.  Vegetables contain many nutrients and when you juice you get a lot of them -- which is why if you juice, always juice organic only, otherwise you're drinking pesticides.  But chlorophyll isn't actually that nutritious in the sense of vitamins and minerals.  It's value is that it has virtually the exact same molecular structure as hemoglobin and is a great blood builder for that reason.  Any green vegetable contains chlorophyll, with the super green vegetables such as spirulina, wheat grass and barley grass as high in it almost as taking it as a separate supplement.

Rodhiola rosea might improve the fatigue issue as well due to it's stimulant adaptogen. You can find it at your local food supplements store. It also affect your serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitters.

Thanks for the info. I will search it on the net. Don't think I would have the time to do the juicing thing.

my son actually bought it for me for xmas. there are many sites on line that offer it. mine is from a company called nature's sunshine. it was about $23 and i am probably taking about 2 teaspoons a day added to water. alot of water! that is all i usually drink.
it is hard to eat really good and this is a great alternative to juicing. i think this one is made from alfalfa.

Yeah I am having alot of fatigue lately. I have hypothyroid, trying to get this under control, having alot of hypo symptoms. We don't want to talk about stress as I have alot of that.  My diet is not the greatest and I was thinking of getting some kind of green supplement. What is this cholrophyl and where can it be purchased?

so you are suffering from fatigue?
how is your diet? your doctor believes it is a deficiency in B12. how bout stress? anemic?

i juice raw vegtables and they give you unbelievable energy. recently my son bought me some liquid chlorophyl. you add some to water and drink it all day and it is like getting concentrated veg. juicing without the hassel. also cheap. $23 a bottle.

You can find the sublingual supplement at any health food store.  Jarrow, I believe, makes one, and Source Naturals probably does as well.

Thanks, yes doc said is was a better form of B12 than the cyano. I had a hard time finding it and had to go to a coumpounding pharmacy.

Can only say the methyl form is considered the most absorbable form, so your doc knows that, which is good.  Most use the cyano form, which isn't easy to absorb.  That's as far as I can help.
