Dear All,
My wife and my little Daughter also have the HCV+. When my daughter was checked for quantitative HCR it was below the range of detection while the antibody was above the range. I took my wife for homeo treatment, it took me four months to understand that she is not getting well, Now she has pain in her legs and her blood pressure remains 80/50, 70/40 and even it was 50/30. Me and my wife have now decided not to take homeo medicines(I don't know what medicine doctor was giving to us). The treatment of  interferons and ribavirin are with too much side effects as well as expensive. Now i clearly do not know what to do.

Remember to let your dotor know everything you are taking including the homeopathic remedies, you don't want to mix it with the interferon treatment unless the doctor agrees it's ok. I was told not to take milk thistle during treatment, he said it was ok before or after. I am sure it varies from doctor to doctor as to what they think you should take on tx, they can't seem to agreee on much!

Well, I for one probably could stand to do the healthy eating thing, but I want junk food!!!  I just had 2 hot dogs which I had not had in a long time and they tasted SO good now that I'm off of treatment. I'll worry about switching back over to the healthy thing in a couple of weeks.  Right now, I'm not worried about it, I just want to enjoy my food!!!!   Happy 4th everybody.

Carduus Marianus, by the way, is the scientific name for Milk Thistle, in case you didn't already know.

hi webprince,

homeopathic treatment can't cure hepatitis C, but it can certainly protect your liver and help you during your course of treatment with interferon and ribavarin.

My suggestion is, take Carduus Marianus Pentarkan (Schwabe Labs), Lycopodium 30, and Natrum Sulfuricum 6x (all 4 times a day) in addition to your allopathic treatment.

If you are in Pakistan, see a good homeopath such as Imran Uppal.  May Allah help you.

So many dog lovers here, not sure if I got the right dog lover name, anyway, you know what I mean, ha ha! anyway, it's more complicated then that about the Vertex trials, youre speaking of one arm of the trial and there are a few....and that's contingent on a possiblity of not clearing by a certain time, and the Vertex clears fast, and with most, so there are all kinds of complicating factors...

The trial coordinator tried to explain it to me, but I was Lucy Ricardo that day...there is also the complicating factors that they might change some of the protocols in mid-stream, depending on some initial data they get...so there's that...

here's a press release explaining some things, hope you can fathom it out...

Sure wish we could take it.  As an addon since we're already doing the Int/Riba big deal - through another pill my way!  :)

This is information that was previously reported.  This piece comes from the vrtx site :http://www.vrtx.com/Pressreleases2006/pr052306.html. It looks like regimens of 12, 24 and 48 weeks with and without riba - all with IFN.  Some (80) as a control with peg/riba, no VX

Hi Flguy,

I hope you are doing well today.  Do you know if the VX-950 therapy is 48 weeks as well for 1A.  I mentioned it to my Hep Doc, and he said Duke has a study coming up with it, but that it is still 48 weeks.  That doesn't sound right.  Does it to you?

Sometime over the last few days the VX-950 Phase II was added to clinicaltrials.gov.  Recruiting 260 over a dozen US sites.  Looks like Geno 1 virgins.  This is the first time I've seen VX listed on the site, and I check often. http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00336479?order=12

Although interferons and ribavirin are the only 'approved' drug to treat hcv, there are people who can give you some ideas about food and supplements that can contribute to more healthy living with hcv - but not a 'cure'.  However, most of these concepts are designed around diet and nutrition and whether these foods are readily available to you is another matter.
Cuteus: Webprince is in Pakistan - give you any ideas?

There are positive indicators that a variety of supplements recommended for liver health do in fact help to reduce inflammation in your iver and are "good for" your liver but the ability to suppress the virus so it no longer replicates the only available treatment is Interferon/Ribivirin.

WebPrince,

I just realized I forgot you are from Pakistan and don't have insurance to pay for this treatment.  Is there any way that you can contact the insurance companies HERE in the US and see if they can help you?

They do have programs to help people and perhaps if you tell them your story...they will see the good publicity in it and offer to help?

I would try that - I would see if you can get them to give you the meds for free?

None. Zero. Zilch.

The ONLY current treatment that works is Interferon and Ribavirin.  I'm sorry.

If something homeopathic DID work...we would all already be doing it and not doing treatment.  Stay away from anyone advertising anything that says it will work - it wont do anything except take your money.
