I have had hep-c for 9 years. Been ding real good. Im 5 foot tall weigh 115 and ride just about any motorcycle you put me on..But here dec. 4th I ended up with e-coli. I was layed up 4 9 days before I called an ambulance, stayed in the hospital for 5 more, came hoem to be on antibiotics for 21 more. Thats 35 days total I had this toxin posining in my system. But that was 6 months ago & I went from riding motorcycles to not being able to hardly bath myself. Im having serizes were I go blind..Im week ALL the time. I litterally feel like Im slowly but surly dieing a very slow death. I can't get my doctor to understand. Hes run blood work & an MRI, but is finding nothing. In the mean time Im slowly watching my life fade..What is wrong with me, what did this e-coli do to me. I was fine untill then, with the exseptions on hep-c
What alternitive meds can I use for hep-c, & long term effect of e-coli

I agree but you need to see a doctor right away because of the seizures,  to see what is triggering those. You may be having a side effect of the antibiotics. I would see/call up the doctor that gave you the antibiotics or is following up with you and tell them your having seizures after taking the drugs they gave you. Seizures that you never had before need to be checked out now.You may not see "seizures" on an MRI but if it was a MRI of the brain you would see a tumor or other tissue damage etc.  I am not certain  knowledge of whether the hepatitis and/or E. coli toxin can cause seizures directly. But, if you have had fevers due to these organisms this may be the cause. Have you had any high fevers? Just be sure to tell the doctor everything. If the current doctor or the hepatologist he/she doesn't get into the seizure problem or fix it I would then see a neurologist and get an EEG. They will get your life back in order it takes some time though to diagnose everything that is going on.
take care,

You need to see a Hepatologist. IF you haven't had a liver biopsy, you need to have one. MRI's cannot tell you what shape your liver is in as far as grade/stage.

You can find a Hepatologist at any of the "teaching hospitals." A regular GI doctor usually does NOT have enough experience in dealing with HCV.

So first things first - get the biopsy by a Hepatologist. And the antibiotics that they had you on for that length of time - hopefully they were "liver friendly."

IFyou are choosing to live with the virus, it is so very important to monitor your liver and again - you must see a Specialist who has many HCV patients.

You also may want to check out the hepatitus forum on site to read about the new meds that have been made available.
Most likely in the near future there will be even better drugs (Interferon free), so it is in your best interest to follow what's new in treating hcv, just incase down the road you have no choice but to try to rid the virus. Not saying this to scare you. I too have the virus.

I hope you feel better soon.
