I use ashwagandha (Indian genseng) and it is soothing and relaxing, a non-addicting herb.
Thank you for all that great information and it got my mind into really being more careful about the overall body function.I am aleways open to any good thing that may help me in the long run.
Thanks, Nickey767

Hi Maliya 1
Being aperson who has had bad sleep problem for years ,I will take your suggestions about Yong Quan and I hope it workd, because my income is limited and cannot afford Ambien anymore.
Thanks Nickey767
Try 5-HTP in the recommended doses on the bottle. Works wonders for me.
Umm, I won't use drugs unnecessarily. I used to have sleeping problems too, what I did was I massaged the bottom of my feet. There's this acu-point at the bottom (middle) of our feel called the Yong Quan (the bubbling well, in Chinese). You can google it to find it's exact location.
I massaged the point on both of my feet for about 10 minutes before I slept and later I slept well. I suggest you do this daily.
Yoghurt (especially thick ones) is another thing that makes us sleepy.
Hope these help. =)
The suggestion about ornithine is one I wouldn't follow. Ornithine by itself doesn't do much. Mostly, it's used by athletes in combination with argenine; in fact, argenine is what makes ornithine. Since the body can produce ornithine by itself it's unlikely you'd need it. While it might aid liver detoxing, you don't suggest you're doing that, and since ornithine works with argenine to help build muscles and affects insulin and other hormones it would most likely make you more wide awake if taken at bedtime. Skip this one. There are better liver detox formulas than ornithine and it won't help you sleep. Passionflower is an excellent herb for overall regulation of the nervous system. It's a good relaxant when taken regularly. mg dosages, however, have nothing to do with how herbs are dosed. What is important is when you take them and whether it's what your body wants. That's told by trial and error. Valerian is better for sleep; it will make you drowsy, but if anxiety is a problem passionflower might help. It's best combined with hops, and the best way to take herbs is in tincture form, so you won't know the mg dosage anyway. As for melatonin, the recommended dosage is too high. 1 mg is a good dosage; .5mg might work as well. With melatonin, less is more -- it isn't very effective in clinical trials for sleep with higher dosages, though it is also a potent antioxidant. As far as animal fats, that depends totally on the person. Some need them, some don't. Animal protein is high in tryptophan, which also helps promote sleep, so who knows? Virgin olive oil isn't what you want, extra virgin is. Virgin is the second pressing, extra virgin the first. But you can't cook with it a high temperatures where smoke is produced -- it's carcinogenic at those temperatures. So it isn't one oil for everything. Skullcap is a muscle relaxant. As such, it certainly might help you relax, but again we're all different. The passionflower is better for relaxing the nervous system, but we all react differently, and usually a combination of remedies is necessary when using natural remedies.
Can't sleep eh? That's quiet common with people where there immune system is trying to detox with and after an illness, the brain is a defenseless organ and when the chemical imbalance of your body detoxing, throws the normal sleep off, but an easy fix too! Look for some L-Ornithine - L-Aspartate capsules, [AllergyResearchGroup carries them] Start off with 1,000mg just before bed, if that doesn't work, double that, and take two or 3 Melatonin 3mg. along with your Ornithine caps. That should work and give you a good nights rest without any grogginess the next morning.
If in the case that you have sever insomnia, then take 1,000mg of Passion Flower with the above and get ready to sleep right away, coz' yor' eyes are going to get very heavy shortly afterwords, but you'll sleep like a baby too.
Valerian Root is okay, but it's sure a wicked herb. and not as effective and mellow as the Passion Flower herb.
Quit often when one is experiencing toxins cycling through their system, [which drastically effects the balance of your chemistry as I've mentioned above], you will also notice that your emotions are a little more high strung than normal, and you might even find yourself losing your temper more often, if this is also happening, then take Skullcap capsules, [or you can learn how to make the powdered herbs into capsules yourself too] About 2 of the 500mg. caps 3 times a day will keep you on mellow and smooth sailing through the day.
For weight loss, stop pigging out so much.. {Sorry...I got a sick sense of humor! Just kidding!! } Try to do a little diet change, like cutting way down on crabs. and any animal fats, like most meats, milk, cheese, butter, etc. Soy milk and fish are good to consider with greens and salads, but avoid the high oils/fats found in a lot of salad dressings. Virgin Olive oil for cooking etc. is good for you.
Hope this help you my friend... God bless!
