Scar Tissue

After brain surgery, I have a considerable amount of scar tissue as the base of my skull, causing more than a few problems. Besides Vitamin E, are there any herbs that will help break-up this tissue or am I stuck with massaging the area in hopes of a change?

Thanks for your time!

I had brain surgery, also, but  we have seen that the scars are under the skin.  I am not sure, but is it the skull, binding/growing/doing the boogie woogie?  My headaches are everyday, and sometimes I am unable to function.  I have an appt in a couple weeks but that thing hurts.  Please help me
Thanx!

I started adding liquid trace minerals to my drinking water a few years ago, and a few months ago I started taking moderate amounts of MSM. I added these supplements for no specific reason, so, to my surprise, my skin condition cleared up, the calluses disappeared from my feet, the only liver spot I had faded and left for good and - the big scar on my hand became unnoticeable. You need a magnifying glass to see it.

I used a product called Mederma if you doctor will allow it.  They make a generic product that is less money.  It is a cream that helps reduce the scar and I used it on my thyroid scar and my daughter's stitches .... it has some items like onion and rose I think in it too, but cannot quote me.

I'd like to add that if anyone feels the need to "correct" someone, it would be very kind and considerate to do it in a PM, as opposed to posting out for everyone to see.

We are all going to get things wrong from time to time, due to the fact that NONE of us are perfect, and NONE of us is a "know it all".      Regardless of what we might think.

This is the deal, guys.  MH doesn't want to get sued for copyright violations, so quoting word for word from other material, including websites, makes them nervous.  That's why you got warned on the anxiety forum, M4.  What you can do is comment on things you read in your own words, and if you do have a citation to a source, that's good, but oftentimes we're talking about things we may have read years ago in our professional or personal or academic lives and won't always have the sources at hand to cite.  I don't think any of us have the time to make this an academic forum.  And as for enforcing rules, that's up to MH and forum leaders acting on its behalf.  Since this forum doesn't have an official leader, that doesn't include any of us.  Anyone can google what respirate said and get all the info available if they want to follow up.  Let's get back to sharing our experiences and helping each other with ideas, 'kay?

If you are talking about by respirate, Jan 09, 2010 08:53AM, all the information was coming from

Dr. Jonathan V. Wright - Nutrition k Healing. Vol. 8, Issue 12 • December 2001

Google nutrition k healing and open the first lin its a pdf containing each words in your posts words for words.

Anyway, I'm not picking on you I'm saying that I have been warned in the past for getting things off websites without citing and giving resources thats all... And it's pretty easy to see what is coming from where because you simply have to copy the first lines and put that into google and open the first results and see if there's a match.

Best regards,

Another possible remedy for external scar tissue is castor oil.  Home Health makes a product called ScarMassage, and many companies make balms for stretch marks, which also can help with external scars.

If this is external
Remedy abnormal scars (keloids) with iodine
Scars aren’t something we like to acknowledge, but just about everybody
has them. Whether they came from falling out of a tree as a kid, accidentally
slicing more than the salad tomato in the kitchen, or undergoing a surgical
procedure, it seems as if scars are an inevitable part of life. Generally, scars
are relatively flat to the skin surface. Occasionally, however, an unusual
scarring response occurs in which the scar tissue “piles up.” These sorts of
scars are called keloids.
Usually, keloids are elevated only slightly above the skin surface, but
sometimes they rise as much as half an inch or even more. There’s no patent
medicine that effectively prevents or treats keloids. Trying to remove a
keloid surgically is rarely effective and usually results in another one just as
bad as before—if not worse.
Fortunately, natural medicine offers a safe and permanent treatment for
keloids: potassium iodide (SSKI). SSKI must be rubbed into the keloid at
least twice daily (more applications offer even better results) for several
months to more than a year, depending on the severity of the keloid. Be
patient, because progress often isn’t obvious for two to three months.
Despite the somewhat lengthy treatment period, persistence pays off.
Eventually, SSKI will diminish a keloid scar until it’s “just an ordinary scar,”
flat to the skin surface again. When this has been achieved, the SSKI
applications can be discontinued. The keloid won’t re-establish itself.
Since the passage of the Dietary Supplements Health and Education
Act of 1995, SSKI has been available over-the-counter in a few locations.
If you can’t find it in a natural food store near you, contact the Tahoma
Clinic Dispensary  at (888)893-6878 or
www.tahoma-clinic.com.
Using SSKI on the skin surface, as in the treatment of keloids, is very
safe unless you have an iodine allergy. Please DO NOT swallow SSKI or
any other form of iodine unless you’re certain of the safety of the dose
you’re using and of the length of time it’s safe to take it! If there’s any
doubt at all, work with a physician-member of the American College for
Advancement in Medicine (1-800-532-3688 or www.acam.org) or the
American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (1-703-610-9037

Hello there,

While you should take a good vitamin C like Ester-C 1,000mg with calcium or any good amount of vitamin C combined with bioflavonoids, zinc, collagen, magnesium and silica there are some herbs that have the potential to promote scar tissue healing.

Helichrysum, ketones found in salvia officianalis, aloe vera, horsetail herb and the comfrey herbs.

You can step in a food supplements store and look for things such as homeopathic remedies such as

-Calc. fluor
-Causticum
-Graphites
-Phytolacca

Keep in mind that the thing that i consider the most important to take daily is vitamin C ( at least 1,000mg with bioflavonoids and you can even consider taking twice this amount ) and Vitamin E with tocopherols 800UI. Very very important.

Please consider that I'm not a doctor nor a nutritionist and you should talk to a qualified physician prior following the above advices especially if you are under medications, pregnant or breastfeeding.

Best regards,
M4
