time lapse, how have i got here ?

Hi i am sorry never posted a question on a forum thing before so sorry if its not quite right.

I am 25 years old and i have been suffering from some kind of time lapse, it happened for the first time quite a few months ago and i thought nothing of it but now it is happening more and more, and it only happens when i drive. it happended again today, i was driving down the road one minutue and then the next minute i was 5 - 10 mintutes further into my journey and i cant remeber driving down the other roads.

for example on my way to work today. i was driving down the road by the local pub, next mintute i am breaking to go round a round about about 10 minutes from the pub. and in between this i have had to drive on an express way and go down quite a bendy road. its scary the fact that i cant remeber driving down those roads plus my 2 year old daughter is in the car with me so if anything was to happen i dont know what i would do. i dont seem to have these time lapses any other time they only seem to happend when i am driving. and i wouldnt say i was forgetfull or suffering from any other kind of memory loss either. am i just being paranoid ?, there is no history in my family for memory loss or anything like that.

has anyone else had this before ?

Many Thanks

Gemerton

I've experienced this many times over the last 15 years or so.  I'll pull into my driveway and try to remember what route I took home. It used to upset me very much until I tuned into a local talk radio station one day and they were discussing this very thing.  I think our minds just go into some auto pilot mode.  Anyway, lots of people were calling in who had experienced the exact same thing.  Hope this eases your mind.

Thats the best idea it is probably something simple especially as you are so young , perhaps you are a thinker and day dream a lot and were thinking instead if concentrating on your driving, now you are more aware you will sort it out Good luck

HI margypops thank you for your comments. I am not on any medication, and not really under any kind of stress either and i sleep well at night, in fact i can sleep any where. my jurney from my home to my work is only about 30 minutes so i am not on the road for a long time. i will go and get it checked out though it might just be a lack of concentration or something simple like that. either way i need to get it sorted because i am worried that i might cause a crash or hit some body. i will keep you updated and let you know how i get on.

Thanks again.

Tell us more about your life , are you taking any Meds as ythey can have short term memory ,affects, have you had a lot of stress as I know that can make you forgetful.I have also heard that people who drive a lot and commute find they can get almsot mesmerised by the driving and have to pul;l over. Are you sleeping okay as Fatigue could affect you? If you are concerned and as you have your daughter and are driving perhaps you should go for a check up as a precaution, Let us know how it goes.
