upset over memory

I am 55 years old and my memory seems to be getting much worse lately. I do not know where I put most things. I do not remember some events at times. Movies I can not remember seeing or going certain places with my husband I do not remember. I get very upset at myself when I am constantly looking for things. Everything from keys to shoes to important papers. I still work but must write most things down in order to remember. I had an MRI which showed some  atrophy. A Neurologist stated I had a mild cognitive impairment butit sure does seem major to me. He gave me concerta which does not help being forgetful. This only helps me not to be so tired all the time. What do you think?  What does this atrophy represent?

ok does alz run in your family and did you ask the dr if that could be it ?

i have found out since my mom has it that not all forgetting is bad, am 51 and do a lot of what you say, but i have learn that if you do recall it later than its not alz its just bad memory, thats what dr oz says and a study.

the more up-set you get about it the more you will forget. belive me i do it. than i go months and forget nothing. so it can be just that your so concern about it that your making yourself worse. like anxiety, if you think about it ,it gets worse until you bring yourself out of it.

try and relax and next time you forget, dont get up-set try and be calm and it will come back to you .

Thank you for your advise and concern. I am awfull busy and do not have time for much. I would love to work part time but finances do not allow this. I really do not even know how to meditate. I am always in a hurry and some tmes it is hard to sit still.I also have a diagnosis of Bipolar and take meds for that. I have been stable for years though. Some of this memory oss may be coming from the meds for that. It is still scary when you can not remember something you may have just done or looked at. You give good advise though and I will heed your woords. I am a Christian which helps me to have some faith but the future is scary. My parents died in their 60's and I do not know if they would of had a tendency for ALZ. Thank you again for your thoughts. Have a blessed day everyone.

2. Look into Extra Virgin Coconut Oil! It has done wonders for 1000s of people
Do a search. The expert on this is Dr. Bruce Fife. I've read most of his books.
3. EMBRACE ALL your physical, mental and emotional issues!.
Not just accept, but embrace! Love yourself in its entirety as a WHOLE.
You may need to meditate on this - get  meditation CDs including specific ones for memory as well.
4. Slow down your life! Take time to do important things only that are vital and meaningful.
Get your affairs organized, un-clutter your house, eliminate the unnecessary!
5. Connect with your Spirit and Nature!

  Blessings to all!

Please don't freak out, if your neurologist has told you that you have a mild cognitive impairment already then take it as it is. if you want to keep testing yourself you can download a mini mental status exam off the internet. This is what all the professionals use. Have a family member do it for you. You answer a series of questions, draw a diagram that kind of thing. Try to look up your family history, Alzheimers is hereditary and there are medications you can take that can slow the process. Unfortunately things like memory games, cross words and sudoku's only work for a short time until your brain gets used to them. Find another neurologist if you are not satisfied with your current one. Good Luck
