I am a reasonably healthy 47 year old male, and I have been having strange speech symptoms. For about the last 4 weeks, I will be in the middle of talking and I will become suddenly hoarse. It's kind of like the "frog in the throat" feeling but stronger. It will usually go away in a few seconds after I clear my throat or drink something, but this seems to be happening with increasing frequency. Also, sometimes the longer I talk the more I feel a pressure-like sensation behind my nose and upper jaw, and I'm not certain, but there seems to be some weakness in my lower jaw. It's like my mouth gets tired talking. I lead a lot of meetings, so there are times when I will need to talk non-stop for 5-10 minutes, and this sudden hoarseness and pressure are becoming burdensome. I do not have any other symptoms of cold, flu, sinusitis, or any other ailment as far as I am aware. I'm somewhat of a hypochondriac, so googling this has led me to some pretty dreaded stuff (like ALS). I also found Spasmodic Dysphoria (but that can go with ALS). I'm hoping someone can suggest another cause so I can stop worrying. It makes me afraid to even go to the doctor for fear of what might be found. Thanks for any input.
