Is My daughter's case is Aneurysm?

Hi There,

I'm Nerie, I'm a new member here. I would like to know your assessment/ diagnosis about my daughter's case. My daughter is already two years old now, when she was 5 mos old she got hospitalized due to seizure and was diagnosed by her pedia neuro  that she was a shaken baby. When we were informed, my husband and I was so shocked because we never hurt or abuse our child. Our daughter's Pedia Neuro discussed to us that if we did not hurt or abused our child, maybe there was something wrong in the way we carry our child, or maybe her blood vessels was weak. Until now she cannot give final diagnosis to us. A closed friend to us who happens to be a doctor also suspected that our daughter might suffered from infantile aneurysm. Our daughter's seizure was already controlled before she was discharged in the hospital.

Now we are confused and we want to know what exactly happened. We cannot accept that the initial findings to her that she is a Shaken Baby. Please help us on this matter, maybe some of you could make things clear for us.. I'm attaching the MRI result of my daughter, hope this could help you in assessing my daughter's case.

Martee,

I am not a Doctor. I do however have practical and personal experience with aneruysms and I follow closely developments in this areas.  I do hold an advanced degree and I can read diagnostic reports and comment sensibly on them.  I take pride in researching information in areas that interest me and I will not comment on medical issues that I have no knowledge about.  I cannot rid myself of the utmost integrity since it is a badge of personal honor  My interest are in Aneruysms, Bone Cancer, and Migraines.  You may find that most comments here are folks having experience with specific disease that they are living with.  Occassionally you may find a Doctor who will respond but not always.  They only have have so much time to make money.  If I were about 20 years younger I would certainly entertain a medical degree, but time and money are not on my side so I contribute how and where I can.  FYI, If a Doctor is responding a medical symbol and degree will be adjacent to their name.  I believe that this site requires evidence of certifications.

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for the info. I have an appointment with my daughter's pedia neuro this august. Btw, are you also a doctor by profession?

My impression is that your daughter does not have a aneurysm in the classical sense.  The word subarachnoid is sometimes confused and associated with the word aneurysm hence subarachnoid aneurysm.  Since it isn't specifically mentioned this should worry you less.  I can understand your concern about the "shaken baby" designation since it seems to reflect wrongdoing on someone's part.  The MRI also suggests encephalitis-like indications and some medical literature suggest an association with the seizures.  Try following up with your Doctor about your concerns.  I hope this helps you.
