My Cat Is Very Sick And Antibiotics Are Not Working! Can You Help?

My Cat Jasper is 5 years old on the 23rd of June 2008. He went into the vet about a month back because he was very stuffy and couldn't eat because he couldn't smell the food. The vet gave him ammoxil and he took that for 10 days. He lost 4 lbs. and didn't show any improvement o we took him back to the vet. The vet gave him a second round of ammoxil (another 10 days) and still no improvement again he lost weight from not eating. So We again took him back to the vet. This time they put him on baytrill for 10 days with L-Lysine 2 times a day for the same length of time. Today is the tenth day and STILL NO IMPROVEMENT he again has lost weight ... he has went form a 12 lb cat to a 4-5lb skinny cat that is still very sick. I don't know what to do next. My vet wants to put him to sleep but he still doesn't know what exactly is wrong with my cat. I asked him to do blood work and he said it wouldn't help. Is there any vets out there that have an opinion about what I should do next? Please Help!

This is an emergency situation!

A cat who doesn't eat for any cause, even a simple cold, is at risk for hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease), and ultimate starvation.  You cat is still young.  Find a veterinary surgeon in your area who can place a peg tube directly into your cats stomach, so that he can be tube fed.  Have that vet take blood to do a test for Bartonellosis.  Request that your vet place your cat on Zithromax.  If you are not interested in having a peg tub placed than you must have your cat force fed and placed on IV fluids, at least, at an emergency hospital.

The peg tube will help so that your cat does not starve to death and will reverse the hepatic lipidosis, so that there will be more time to try to diagnose what is wrong with your cat.

There aren't many vets that are any good in my area! My last 2 vets were also quacks none of them seem to care about the animal, they only care about the money they make from the vet care costs! I will be taking Jasper to a new vet IF I can find one that wants to look at him now that I already have a vet dealing with it most of the vets here do not want to give a second opinion because they feel the first vet was right! That is why I resorted to posting online.

I should also mention I have 5 other cats that are not showing ANY signs of being sick, I also have 4 dogs. None of my animals are sick except for Jasper... so it is not something that is contageous.

Also Jasper is Neutered and does NOT go outside EVER not even on a harness or leash unless he is in a carrier then it is only for short trips.
