Nursing cat not feeding

We have a 4 week old kitten and the mother is now refusing to feed - everytime the kitchen latches on she yowles and moves away.  Is it possible to get mistitus and if so what can be done to treat it?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Mother cats have an instinct about their kittens and can sometimes reject kittens that they feel have something wrong with them.  This is a survival instinct, but the defect may be minor and something that can be taken care of with modern veterinary medicine.  The good news is that this kitten has already received maternal antibodies through her mother's colostrum and can survive on bottle feedings now.

Heartflutters is right in advising you to start to bottle feed this kitten with kitten milk, available at any pet shop.  You can also try some human baby food meats.  The kitten's digestive system should be able to handle human baby food meats at her age.
