Puppy with Sarcoptic Mange

Puppy came to shelter where I volunteer.  They don't provide any vet treatment just keep 5 days in condition it arrives and put up for adoption or put down.  I could not stand to see this puppy sit for 5 days scratching holes in itself so I took him to the vet.  Vet gave ivermectin shot and told me to dip him in paramite once a week.  Then next week give him an advantage multi a day after his dip.  The box says not to use it on puppies under 12 weeks, but the vet said to do it and I did.  Getting a lot of grief from people at the shelter who say I should use a lyme-sulfur dip.  I am not a vet (and neither are they) so I hate to just change the treatment.  He is also on an antibiotic.  Also, I have 4 dogs, a foster, and I am dogsitting my friend's  2 dogs.  How long will he be contagious?  One of my dogs is a senior and doesn't have the greatest immune system.  I would like to get him out of the shelter environment as soon as possible.

Paramite dips in a puppy that young may cause toxicity. I recommend lime sulfur dips weekly for 6 weeks, as they are much safer and also have anti-itch effects. Continue oral antibiotics for 3 weeks. Since the life cycle of the scabies mite is about 3 weeks from egg to adult, he should be isolated from other dogs for at least 3 weeks. Continue Advantage monthly for flea control, as it is not very effective for scabies or demodex in my experience.

Thanks, he said the advantage multi would be the last dose of ivermectin he would need.  Looking online, it doesn't even seem to contain that ingredient.  Another rescuer said she had heard of using Revolution for mange, but not Advantage Multi.  I am going to switch to lime sulfur dips.   I was really worried about using such a strong product like paramite.  My regular vet will be back next week so I will ask him for a refill of the antibiotic and ask him if another dose of invermectin is needed.
