Did my cat suddenly bring home a "female dog scent?"

Ok....I have 2 black labs---2 male cats (my dogs are NOT fixed, but both cats--ARE). Both my cats are male.

Ok...so my cats have been around and living with my dogs for over a year now. ALL get along--just fine. ;)

HOWEVER....JUST recently--about 4 days ago, my cat (only one of them goes outside at night), and when he came back in the morning to eat...one of my dogs suddenly got hyper around him..kept sniffing, licking, and wanting to hump my cat. (He hasn't hurt him and doesn't want to)..BUT...this is REALLY ODD because no one that I have told this to has NO IDEA why this is happening.

Now I KNOW already that animals also hump out of dominance, etc...but this is not normal considering that my cat has already been around my dogs for over a year now---they NEVER wanted to hump him before--(actually my other lab doesn't even seem to care or smell any new scent on my cat)...but just one of them---he goes nuts everytime he sees him come back in now...it's driving us nuts!!

My question is....is there any type of natural home remedie I can use on my cat that will keep my dog off of him ?

Is it possible that my cat has been hanging around another "female dog in heat" when he goes outside during the night?? (bringing back her scent with him?)

This is RECENT...and my dog has NEVER wanted to hump him before...and never acted that way with him before..so there must be a "Scent" on my cat that is making my dog act this way?

help.

Is it possible that a cat that goes outside at night, can "bring home" the scent of a female dog in heat?????

Your cat may have been around a female dog in heat or exposed to some of her secretions.  Even after grooming himself the secretions can be still be smelled by the male dogs.

Have your cat bathed at the vet or by a groomer several times to eliminate the smell.

NOTE:

Both my labs (males), are almost 8 years old and has NEVER had a "humping issue"..they are also very well trained.

We have NO female pets in our house whatsoever!!

I know they need to get fixed,,,but humping has never been an issue-and certainly strange how my dog wants to hump a FIXED MALE CAT that he has known already for almost 2 years...now suddenly acts like he is a female dog in heat????

I'm wondering how to get this "scent" off of my cat so my dog calms down....sigh...........
