Vomiting

I have one cat that vomits everyday. When this first happened she was on dry food and the vomiting was so bad that she was losing a large amount of weight (starving to death). Took her in to the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so they gave her some meds to take before she ate. I took the food and soaked in water to soften it up seemed to help for awhile. They told me that she was probable allergic to the food so I changed that over the past 7 to 8 months I have tried every dry food there is. Did not work. So I have been taking and soaking the dry food and mixing in baby food for her she seems to have a problem with swallowing. The last few days she is only eating the baby food. But if you watch her she struggles with swallowing but yet they can't find anything wrong with her. It is costing me a fortune buying baby food for this cat. But I love her and it hurts me so much to see her struggling. Does anyone have any suggestions.

It is great that you are doing so much to help your cat.  This sounds like a very difficult situation.  If you have a specialty clinic, I think it would be a good idea to take your cat to see an internal medicine specialist.  Were xrays taken of the chest and neck?  Endoscopy may be needed to look in her throat and esophagus if she is having difficulty swallowing.  It may be that she is just nauseous also, the movement they make with their head when they are nauseated by the food can look like difficulty swallowing.  Endoscopy would also help to look into the stomach and first part of the intestinal tract and take biopsies.

Have you tried canned cat food?  Your veterinarian may have Hills a/d, Royal Canin Recovery, or Royal Canin HE which may be good for this situation.  You need to find the cause of the vomiting so a specialist may be the best thing at this point.
