anyone else heard of the new dog flu?

I was just reading up on this new virus effecting dogs....I just put my 11 year old husky down ..she was very ill...my 1 yr old was having a bout of flu like symptoms and now is exibiting signs of a cold..he goes to vet on 25th...I read this article about the new dog virus and interestingly my 1 year old has been near the horses alot....just wondering if anyone else knew something about this?  thanks

I am sorry about your Husky.  Your veterinarian can have your dog tested for canine influenza or other new virus's.  Have the test performed to ease your mind, and if your dog turns out to be positive for the disease you will be a step ahead on any necessary supportive therapy.
