I Want to Recover

I've lived with anorexia for multiple years now, and recently I have also been having more frequent patterns of bulimia.  I have finally realized that I don't want to live my life this way, as it has affected more than my physical health.  My parents do not know, and we don't have the money for any formal treatment.  So I'm wondering, what can I do to help get on the "road to recovery"?  I know a good amount about proper nutrition and exercise (health class for a semester), and I have an idea of who I would like to see myself become.  I just would like to know an efficient and healthy way to get there.

It took me about 5 years to recover from anorexia..still think I look fat in pictures but I tell my self my health,my life is more important...after awhile these habbits take a toll on your body.. I have health problems I am still dealing with today.

I had to do it for my loved ones..like you my parents didn't have the money.

I saw myself dyeing in a dream and my family reacting so sadley. I knew it was up to me alone to be strong.

Sometimes I fall back to old habbits but then I see that horriable nightmare all over agian and it wakes me up.

There maybe some free support groups in your community..Check them out :)
Good luck hon!!

Holding secrets keep the eating disorder alive and well.  Unless you believe there would be terrible consequences in letting your parents know about your bulimia, I would recommend you tell them.  They would want to know.  They could support you in your recovery.  There are free support groups for you and free support groups for family members.  There are some great books for you and your parents.  In addition, there are some treatment facilities that are givng scholarships for eating disorder treatment.  Asking for help and support is a vital part of recovery.  To learn more about eating disorders visit the bella vita website.  Best, Dr Patricia Pitts  Los Angeles, CA
