Just out of treament from Laureate

Hello-
I have been struggling with anorexia and bulimia for around 5 years now. I just got out of treatment from laureate in Tulsa Ok. Anyway, I gained about 18 pounds in 7 weeks. I wasnt allowed exercise, stairs or any physical acticity what so ever. Needless to say, the weight I gained looks like cellulite. Not just on my thighs but my arms, stomach and everywhere. You can understand my uneasyness about this considering my eating disorder. I want to tone up and lose some of the lumps without undoing all the hard work I did in treatment. Im still not allowed exercise because they still want me to gain weight which is EXTREMELY hard for me outside of treatment. What should I do!!

Dear Mrs. Burns,

Congratulations on all the hard work you have done so far in addressing your eating disorder!  Keep moving forward!  Some hard work is still ahead.  I would continue to follow your outpatient treating doctors, etc. recommendations.  They are on the right path.  Research shows nutrition rehabilitation and weight gain is crucial to avoid relapse.  Exercising now will sabotage all your work.

Best,

Congratulations on your recovery!

How low did your weight get and for how long?

Do you get any essential fatty acids in your diet?  Fish, nuts or seeds or anything?  I suggest taking a high concentrate omega 3 fatty acid every day to help the cellulite,  Also working with weights to build muscle which burns fat and calories at rest.

Let me know,

Marlane
