Anorexia is an eating disorder where the victim refuses to eat in the fear of gaining weight. They see themselves as being overly fat, when really they are just underweight. The victim may sometimes purge if forced to eat.
A person with Anorexia cannot cope with it themselves. They require counsling and doctors to help them through it. There is always recovery though.
I have a friend right now that is suffering from Anorexia Nervosa. She is at the state where she is in need of immediate medical attention, and i am fighting for that right now.
She is only 5 feet tall, 17 years old and wieghs only 69 pounds. She was never really fat, but that is how she sees herself because of a disorder called body dysmorphia.
I hope I at least helped a little with your question.

I have been trying to go on anarexia group chats to talk to people who have it, but not got much feedback. It must be hard for you with your friend suffering from it. If you can give me anymore info i would be very greatful

Dear beckydamo,

Please visit the bella vita website to read on anorexia.  We have an extensive overview on our site.

People don’t cope with anorexia.  It’s a life threatening disorder.  It robs the individual of self-expression and eventually can time one’s life.  It is crucial to seek help medically and psychiatrically.  The majority of individuals who do not seek help die.  When seeking help, the mortality rate drops to 2-3%.  With treatment, individuals get fully recovered or partially recovered.  Treatment helps an individual and family members cope as the individual and family move towards recovery.

Best,
