ENORMOUS weight gain!!!

I have been bulemic for about 5 years. In february I had to have emergency surgery on my stomach for a hiatel hernia due to exessive for a long time. I am now 19 years old and ready to try and recover because I am scared to lose my life.  While I have been trying to purge less, I guess my eating habits have stayedthe same and I have gained an EXTREME amount of weight since february.  I am 6ft tall and never been "underweight." But in february I was 160lbs and now I am almost 200pounds.  I cannot continue to "recover" while gaining weight like this.  It cannot be healthy.  Yet, I don't know how to lose weight now that I am trying to give up the one thing that almost heped maintain my weight. PLEASE HELP!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear Blondie Brittany,

I’m delighted you are motivated to stop vomiting.  As you know, vomiting can and has caused death.  Your body has already gone through a lot over the past 5 years.  Thus, purging is not an option.  In addition, most bulimics gain weight when they stop purging.  They, like you, often have difficulty adjusting to normal portion sizes.  There is hope.  Trying it on your own has helped decrease your purging behavior.  However, your own head keeps taking you back to your bulimic thinking and behaviors.  Bulimia is a biopsychosocial disorder.  You need to seek outside help to support your change.  I would recommend looking for a medical doctor, a therapist and a registered dietitian in your area that specialize in eating disorders.  If you are not able to make much change, I would ask your professionals about going into an eating disorder treatment program.  Visit our website to learn more about bulimia and treatment options.

Take a deep breath.  Only you can change your eating habits, therefore changing your weight, if it does happen to be something you'd like to change.  If you try to eat more raw vegetables/fruit, at least 1/3 of your daily food coming from raw fruits and veggies, you will see an enormous improvement.  Every time you want to binge, its okay, just eat an apple and some celery first, that way you can't binge as much, and try to keep your binges healthy.  I used to be bulimic and it RUINED my teeth, so now I just binge on 'healthy' foods when I feel the need, and I'm always surprised that I didn't eat as much as I thought, when I count it up later.

WATER is essential to your diet, make sure you're drinking enough, I know I don't, but we all should, it will help flush toxins out of your body.

Some of my best advice, though, is to start drinking raw organic apple cider vinegar before every meal, just a tbsp mixed with 8oz water and a tbsp honey.  It helps your body absorb the nutrients it needs, while stoping the excess fat and sugar from entering your system, not that it won't, just not as much.  It has helped me soo much, my teeth are whither, my skin is brighter, I FEEL healthier, and when I don't drink my concoction, I feel really bad.  I can feel it helping me digest my food.  I hope this helps!  Try it for a month and if you don't like it stop, but it is excellent for your health and weight, and I don't know anyone who wouldn't like the feeling if they gave it a chance
