Welcome to my world!!! My stomach is a total mess because of my anxiety! I have lived with a "nervous" stomach for many years now....I just had an endoscopy for other reasons and I was prescribed prevacid because my stomach was irritated.
Taking an over the counter is just as good (like previcid)....however, it hasn't taken away my stomach "pains" when the anxiety flairs!
While it's best to see a doctor to ensure it's IBS, IBS and anxiety are -closely- linked. Many people experience both. There's a whole line of stuff that I've found life saving in terms of my IBS called Heather's Tummy Care. But if you can't get that because of location or shipping costs, it still helps to read her website for dos and don'ts and a local health food store likely has some fairly equivalent stuff. I particularly recommend enteric- coated peppermint capsules. They help with the pain alot, as peppermint is completely natural way to soothe pain. And the particular one from Heather's include ginger and fennel for natural ways to ease other symptoms, but I know some ones I looked at in the health food store nearby had some herbs that were used similiarly in them. Some people have also had really good results using acidophilus pills. Just a few things to look into. :)
Thank you all, very much.
LOL. it's not funny, but I have been struggling with IBS for a few years now, and it's very challenging.LOL. It's one of the most insulting sydroms. YOu have to watch your diet...The milk(if ur Lactose intollerant), the sugar...Do the best you can. As much as I watch myself, it still manages to creep up on me. Stop getting so nervous, too. Control your thought amap.
Hi,
Nervousness and anxiety can cause IBS. IBS is described as a brain-gut disorder.
When we are stressed or having anxiety, our digestive system responds negatively.
and also it's spiral, more you are nervous more your digestive system is upset and it will cause to more anxiety and nervousness.
take care of your food, relax/meditate or do light exercise, think positive about yourself.
don't smoke/drink alcohol or coffee too much. there are good resources on web to suggest you about IBS. One thing keep in your mind its not dangerous, though bothersome. but if you just do things positively you won't get into this anxiety and related problems spiral.
If you still feel discomfort then please consult a doctor. (there are symptom checker to help you differentiate form serious problems like IBD etc.)
all the best.
