Alright, I am getting tired of not smoking pot anymore. I used to love to smoke it to relax and calm down until I started getting anxiety attacks all the time. I've recently been thinking of smoking again just to relax. Yes, I understand that it is an illegal drug, I know that. I am just wondering what you think about smoking while on this medication. I would like to know what I am possibly getting myself into before I start smoking, most likely I am going to try it and just want some input.

yep...like remar and amish said, weed can cause some serious paranoia/anxiety.... even in people who don't have anxiety or depression. Do you know what was the cause/trigger of your anxiety attacks?

I guess it all depends on the type of anxiety or depression you have. I know some who use because it's calming and relaxing for them and it helps w/ their situation. Others have gone into complete freak out mode from the effects of it, making their anxiety much worse.

As far as the Effexor, the only thing you can really do is look into the side effects and possible reactions/interactions with other meds/drugs.

You smoked before, so you have a source, and you say you'll probably try anyway, so maybe ask if any low potency stuff is available to try first.

Just watch out.  It can trigger SERIOUS panic attacks and with your mind in an altered state it's very difficult to convince yourself that you are okay.  It happened to me a few years back.  I don't even touch the stuff any more just on the off chance that I'll have a bad experience.

was smoking it causing panic attacks? pot can do that to some people who have anxiety and depression. you do have to think about it mixing with your meds and being an illegal drug.

i dont understand why did u stop smokin it if u enjoyed it? cause it gave u anxiety?
