Adrenal Fatigue Generalized Anxiety

Hello,

Curious to learn what tests are required for adrenal funcion and their medical code on the blood request sheet. I'm curious if my doctor marked it off on there or not. I know ACTH and Cortisol are both responsible for adrenal function but how would that be indicated? Also, would a one time blood test that reveals adrenal fatigue prove anything? Aren't our cortisol levels different throughout the day?

Thank you

Thank you. I am looking more into holistic approaches.

However, do you have any information on gluten sensitivity? It has been shown that a lot of CSF patients are gluten intolerant which is what causes the brain fog, pain, etc. The only thing I'm unsure of is if can be absent of IBS. Although I am very gaseous upon awakening and before bed (I dont know if that is normal). Any information about gluten sensitivity would be helpful. I did recently break out in a rash on by back, both flanks which is vrey rare for me to break out, almost looked like chicken pox/shingles but span's about 8-10 inches on either side with dispersed pustules. This may be a far cry from just typical Generalized Anxiety but its worth looking into. I was considering going gluten- free for a week and seeing if i would notice a difference although I'm unsure when the symptoms would decrease after that change.

thank you again for your assistance!!

I don't obviously know what is wrong with you, but when doctors give up or you give up on them it's either time to find other doctors or try a different form of medicine and see where it leads.  Some doctors practice integrated medicine, which means they study both allopathic and holistic medicine.  There are also naturopaths.  From your description, you could have any number of things wrong, and it could all be anxiety or depression.  Things it could be are a systemic yeast infection, hormonal problems (which again includes they thyroid), nutritional problems (food intolerances and allergies), chronic fatigue syndrome, some hidden virus, etc, and again, it could just be accumulated stress.  Natural medicine will work on building up your systems and cleaning out the toxic stuff, while a really good curious doctor might find something that's hard to find.  Good luck.

Replying to your message with the same as above so you can both be notified: thanks in advance:

Thank you for your response. I've been having chronic daily fatigue for about a year and a half now. I was top of my class and now im struggling to "just get by" ... it is very emotionally draining trying to figure out what is wrong with me when doctors have seem to given up.
The only symptom i have currently is left upper quadrant pain with mild chest pains here and there that may be attributed to muscle strain from working out. Along with that there is the fatigue.
I've gotten a head MRI (checked out fine), Sleep Study(also fine), blood work, cbc, cmp, tsh, mono, lymes, hiv, etc etc... all fine/negative thereof.

My next order from my doctor would be to just do a chest x-ray ... Ive been having this dull constant pain my LUQ now since august, but this was after the fatigue began...

Any ideas would mean so much as I cannot live like this anymore.

Thanks!

I just read your post. If you're suffering with anxiety because you think that you are getting too much adrenalin, which is anxiety in itself, you can find ways to balance the amount of cortisol you are getting to a more balanced adrenalin release. I too, thought I was getting too much adrenalin, as I was so anxious and in fight or flight mode all day long. I searched the net and there are many links you can click on, to learn how to calm down the adrenalin production, one of which tells how to meditate and believe me, it works! As Paxiled said, it's more in a Natural Therapies realm, unless you're taking steroids or drugs of any sort that may affect your adrenal gland or having thyroid problems as Paxiled said in her post. I just thought I'd post too, as that's what I thought I had - exhausted adrenal glands from giving me too much adrenalin, causing me great anxiety. I now post in the anxiety forum of this site. Hope this helps.

Where did you get the idea of adrenal fatigue?  If you truly have a medical condition involving your adrenal gland, which isn't common, endocrinologists handle that, but the adrenals are usually more a sign of thyroid problems.  Boosting and balancing adrenals is more in the realm of natural medicine, using adaptogenic herbs to strengthen performance and reduce over production of cortisol, but overproducing cortisol is what anxiety is and it seems to be linked to the amygdala, part of the brain that science hasn't been able to penetrate yet.  Herbs such as eleuthero and ashwagandha are very good for balancing the adrenals, and holy basil is good at reducing cortisol production as well as lowering blood sugar.  Other things that elevate cortisol are taking cortico-steroids, which are basically cortisol.  Can you elaborate on what you're seeking here?
