Hey there,
Although anxiety symptoms are remarkably diverse, a lot of people from what I know, and have observed do have a fear about their hearts, or sometimes their breathing or even their sanity. People who have had panic episodes, who don't know much about the heart or how anxiety affects us physiologically, can be prone to developing worries over their hearts - its called a cardiac neurosis. The best thing you can do, is to educate yourself on anxiety and also the physiology of anxiety every thouroughly so that way you know what is happening to you if you are very anxious or have an anxiety attack and understand that is all harmless. Some people have a cardiac neurosis (it goes away) simply because they:
1) Know nothing or very little about the heart
2) They don't understand the mechanisms of anxiety
3) They don't understand the physical part of anxiety and how it gets us "stirred up"
So by getting educated on these topics, it can relieve the vast majority if not all of the anxiety about their hearts, and futher, if they can get an EKG done or an auscultation, it puts them at futher relief since the test confirms they are perfectly okay.
Best of luck to you, and take care. ;-)
Omg thank u.. but ive had 3 ekg done an one chest xray an the dr said i was fine.. its just the short of breath thing an chest pain i get that scares me. " Anxiety Attacks". an i seem to get them when i done eating an sometime out of the blue for no reason.. its scary! i still think i have some kinda heart problem, i cant afford to go to a cardiologist i need to because i need to ease my mind.. smh..
I have an arrhythmia and my heart totally freaks me out at times. But its more so because of my anxiety. I have had loads of tests and am told my heart is healthy and strong. GREAT! Then why can't I stop worrying about it. Sometimes I am ok, other times it bothers me but for the most part I am ok....
:)
I have the same symptoms as u. I get it out of the blues. I can't sleep at night. Im actually laying in bed cuz i can't sleep ughh... my doc sed dat my heart is good and no clog arteries ...
Hello. what test have you had done? ive sent u a private message so we can get to know each other a little more, i need some friends that can understand what im going through because alot of my friends don't understand, maybe we can get over this!
Your fears may seem to have a valid basis, but there really isn't anything to worry over. And worrying really doesn't achieve anything (except to get you even more worried).
If your dyspnea is caused by anxiety, which it probably is, then that can cause chest wall strain which may be a source of "chest pain" as that can be a fairly broad term. From what I know, if the chest pain is localized, it is not heart-related and further if the pain does not increase with physical activity then it is definately not heart-related. Some people have a form of cardiac neurosis called Da Costa's Syndrome, which is harmless but makes people worry futher because it causes a non-cardiac chest pain.
